Thanksgiving dinner!

Ever have the problem of deciding what to cook? Get a little crazy with the menu sometimes……maybe you have unrealistic goals?!

Me too. I think its because I’m from a broken home (parents divorced when I was 7 and my family is crazy) or maybe my expectations are to high.

I have to wonder if I’m not trying to make up for all the bad holidays I had as a child. Just recently I decided to NOT spend time with cerain family members anymore because they are just to hateful and bitchy. I don’t think the holidays should be horrible events where you lock yourself in the upstairs cloest to get a moment of clarity. They are supposed to be happy occassions.

Or thats how I always dreamt they should be. And now I am giving myself permission to make that happen which means I won’t be seeing most of my family around the holidays, but thats ok. My sanity is more important. :)

Now back to Thanksgiving dinner. I must have a turkey, mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole, but anything else is acceptable. I like to try and have some shrimp before dinner and maybe a nice relish tray. But year after year I always try to make somthing fabulous and sometimes that works out, but other times it’s a complete distaster. Go figure. Had any Thanksgiving disaters of your own? Next post I’ll tell you about the Thanksgiving two years ago when the oven caught fire and we had to call the fire department. I know!!
